Amateur Radio Equipment and Accessories - Suppliers

Kenwood TS440S HF transceiver

Typical of the used equipment available on the market today, this radio has many useful features and produces 100 watts on all amateur bands from 1.8 to 29.7 MHz. This model was first released in the mid 1980s and discontinued in 1990 to be replaced by the TS450S. Despite its apparent age it still has a reputation as a reliable radio, provided it has not been "improved" by non-standard modifications. Before buying any used equipment, try to find out whether the seller is the original owner and whether any non-standard mods have been made. If the owner still has the original packing materials, the manual and the basic accessories like the microphone and power cable, then there is a reasonable chance of the equipment having being kept in reasonable order.
